Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-Led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individuals, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of "Every Child Matters".
We are grateful to God, the Creator, for the gift of creation, the gift of one another, our unique histories, and the shared oportunities for learning, growing and working together in this place we call our common home.
We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa, the Syilx, and the Sinixt peoples, and is home to the Métis and many diverse Indigenous persons. We honour their connection to the land and rivers, and respect the importance of the environment to our strength as a community.
